Described as a "slice of heaven" in the latest Lonely Planet East Coast guide, Sanctuary Retreat is actually a small accredited eco-lodge and yoga retreat centre set high on a hill overlooking 50 acres of private natural rainforest and the Coral Sea.

A haven for wildlife, Sanctuary can accommodate groups from 6 to 46 in either the minimalist, yet comfortable Rainforest Huts or for those more interested in creature comforts, stylishly appointed Canopy Cabins. All accommodation is set high above the forest floor providing wonderful views of the surrounding rainforest. You can offer a range of retreat prices to suit all budgets as accommodation rates range from $32.50 to $130.50 per person per night. Our flexible deposits and payments policy means you only pay for the accommodation you need.

The main longhouse, with spectacular vistas over the rainforest canopy and out to the Great Barrier Reef, houses the Sanctuary bar and restaurant. Fabulous homemade food is available all day and groups with specific requirements can be catered for. We pride ourselves on a varied and creative menu using fresh local produce, organic where possible. Vegetarian cuisine is a specialty. A well equipped self-catering kitchen is available for those who may prefer to look after themselves.

The Yoga Studio, nestled in lush tropical rainforest, is ideal for yoga groups seeking a unique and tranquil place in harmony with the environment. Polished timber floors, exposed beams and high ceilings combine to provide a wonderful space to hold workshops for yoga asanas, pranayama and meditation to the natural rhythm of the forest.

Relax, Refresh and Rediscover

Mission Beach is in the heart of the Wet Tropics in North Queensland. With travel times approximately 5.5 hours door to door from Sydney and with return airfares from as low as $300, it's a Paradise not far away. As you would expect, all the attractions of the tropics are able to be experienced at Mission Beach.
From secluded rainforest-fringed beaches with sparkling clear water to island cruises and diving trips to the Great Barrier Reef or for the thrill seekers, white water rafting on the Tully River.

At Sanctuary, guests can enjoy the tranquility of the beautiful forest pool, a massage or wander the short walk through the forest to a near private beach. Walking trails wind through the rainforest, where guided night walks can show you how it comes alive after dark.
